St Mary's Parish Church is a friendly family of Christians journeying through life and seeking to show God's love by loving our world and loving our wonderful community of West Moors. Our mission is encapsulated by our vision which is Loving God Loving West Moors.
As the Vicar of St Mary's, I am blessed to be supported by the ministry of Revd Michael Eaton, Revd Lynne Morris, Revd Alan Butler and Mrs Alyson Scott (Licensed Lay Minister) together with a team of Churchwardens and Lay Pastoral Assistants. You can find out more about our team on the Ministry Team page.
We are an active, inclusive and welcoming community who seek to share the love of God with all who we meet. Within the pages of our website you will find information about the various services and events that are taking place in the life of our church and the wider community of West Moors. All are welcome, from the very young to the very young at heart.
The worship at St Mary's is reverent but relaxed as we meet to experience the presence of God in fellowship, prayer and music. Many of the services include Holy Communion where, as the bread and wine are consecrated and shared, we believe the real presence of Christ is amongst us. The services are intended to be just as welcoming and comfortable for those who have been to church many times as those who have never experienced worship before. What you can be assured of, is a warm welcome as we all meet in the love of God. On a Sunday we have a more reflective Prayer Book Holy Communion at 8am and then at 10am the Parish Eucharist. On the fourth Sunday of the month at Sunday@10 the service takes a lighter and more interactive feel with a worship band. The 10am services are always followed by refreshments in our church hall.
On the first Sunday of the month, we have a cafe style church service at 4pm in the church hall, with worship songs and a fun and relaxed style...and of course there is coffee and cake!
Daily Prayer is integral to the life of our church and on Thursday and Friday there is Morning Prayer at 8.30am.
On Tuesday there is gentle Bible reading at 9am and Wednesday mornings we have a relaxed and gentle Communion service at 10am in the church hall followed by coffee and cake.
We have a wide variety of other services and social events. The Pew Sheet is a great way of finding out what is happening on a weekly basis. If you would like to have the Pew Sheet emailed directly to you on a weekly basis please contact me. If you have any queries about any aspect of church life or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone on 01202 893197 or by email: [email protected]
Wherever you are on your journey through life, you are very welcome at St Mary's and we look forward to meeting you very soon.
Revd Andy Muckle
Vicar
